Solstice 3.4 (11276) Release Overview
The Mersive team recently diagnosed and resolved a potential network performance issue attributed to an occurrence where the Solstice Discovery Service (SDS) became unavailable on the network, which resulted in Solstice Pods, apps, Dashboards, and/or Windows Display software unsuccessfully attempting to re-establish a connection to the SDS. The Solstice 3.4 (11276) upgrade has been released to resolve this potential issue.
What is the issue and impact?
When SDS is deployed but becomes unavailable on the network, the Mersive Solstice Pods, user apps, Dashboards, and/or Windows Display software instances pointing to SDS will try to reconnect with increasing frequency. The high number of reconnection attempts can adversely impact network performance due to overutilization of network resources.
How has this been resolved?
A fix has been implemented in the Solstice 3.4 (11276) release that significantly reduces the number of SDS reconnection attempts in the event that SDS becomes unreachable on the network. This fix will also be included in the 3.5 release planned for next week.
Could this impact me? If so, what do I need to do?
If you have SDS deployed and have any Solstice components pointing to SDS, especially for large-scale deployments, you should upgrade all your components to Solstice 3.4 (11276) or later. We also recommend that you enable your SDS to restart automatically as a recovery option. For more information on how to configure this, see the SDS Configuration: Best Practices support topic.
